New Fall Shows

I've succumbed to the lure of a fair bit of new fall programming. I've managed to avoid Life, Dirty Sexy Money, Kid Nation, and Journeyman, but there are 4 or 5 new shows that I'm recording. None of them have the obsession of first-season Lost, but some of them are fun.

First, Chuck and Reaper. They have similar plot lines--slacker guy gets in over his head with a new job that he can't tell anyone about, there's a cute wannabe girlfriend, and an annoying sidekick--but so far, I like Chuck better. First, I think the character of Chuck is nicer than Sam, who whines a lot. Also, the actor playing Chuck is cuter (that has nothing at all to do with my husband having dark, mildly curly hair, and working on computers all day, either!). I laughed harder than anything else this week when one of the characters got trapped in a cage, and they started playing the opera music from Shawshank Redemption. Gorgeous. Although Ray Wise really works as the Devil, I like Adam Baldwin better as a semi-antagonist.

Pushing Daisies. I like it, but it's really verging on twee for me. It's very cute, very clever, and very aware of that. Certainly unique, but we'll see how it holds up.

Bionic Woman. If I had to give up one new show, this would probably be it. It takes itself pretty seriously, and doesn't have the fun of, say, Alias (which I sadly didn't discover until it was almost over).

I'm also watching the final episodes of Queer Eye, which is still fun, but not as fun as it was when it first came out. I'm really looking forward to November 14--Season 4 of Project Runway!

I'm gonna give Bionic Woman one more chance. I was hoping this would be "the"show this year but it isn't catching my interst. Chuck is good. I haven't seen the other one you mentioned yet.

Kid Nation is pretty good.

I am liking Pushing Daisies, too. It is just a cute show. Very whimsical, and I like the narrator.

I fell asleep during the first episode of Bionic Woman so I didn't try it again. Pushing Daisies was cute but I forgot to watch it this week!

I'm desperate for season 3 of Project Runway to get to DVD - we don't have cable so I've been renting it!
