Apparently, there are some things home schooled kids are less likely to learn. My stepsister has recently put her kids back in public school, after homeschooling for about five years.
The first week, she realized that her kids haven't learned how to keep track of their assignments and homework. Last week, she realized that her kids (or at least one) didn't know that you can't "help" someone else during a test. Oops.
Hearing about this is interesting to me, and makes me think about whether my own kids would also have these issues. I asked Sarah if you could help someone during a test, and she dismissively told me that of course you couldn't. As for the keeping track of assignments, I'm sure that would prove difficult at the public school level, although she does have some co-op assignments to keep track of.
She's also discovered how much homework her kids have, which makes me wonder if we do enough sheer volume of work.
