Michigan calling here. We'd like October back, please.
Remember October? It's the best month here. A month of chilly nights, and days that are made for sweaters. A month of going to the apple orchard, picking the perfect pumpkin, and getting great fall color on film.
It is NOT a month to go swimming, so last week's 90 degree temps were rather uncalled for. Our church had a soup lunch for www.bread.org, and while everything was tasty, the air conditioning was a little incongruous.
According to the weather channel, you're only giving us one nice day this week--tomorrow. After that, the temps are going to be in the high 50's. None of the previously mentioned activities are as much fun if you have to do them in a parka. True, it will probably warm up again, but the leaves will probably be gone by then, the apples will be iffy, and my Dad insists that THIS is the week to get a pumpkin (we always go with him), even though Halloween is still three weeks away.
So, Mother Nature, how about it? Can we get back to a regular old glorious October? Please?
