The May Crop Walk is free, though I will be fundraising for it, so that's still in the works. That is a BIG one. 5K isn't much more than I'm already doing, but 10K is twice that. I was trying to plan a route around my neighborhood that would get me up to that. I'll have to go quite a ways to get to that point. I have about 8 weeks until then.
My "daily training plan" is as follows:
- 1st week (to March 16): at least 2 miles of walking or 45 minutes of Free Step
- 2nd & 3rd weeks (to March 30): at least 3 miles of walking or 60 minutes of Free Step
- 4th & 5th weeks (to April 13): at least 4 miles of walking or 80 minutes of Free Step
- 6th & 7th weeks (to April 27): at least 5 miles of walking or 100 minutes of Free Step
- 8th week (to May 4): at least 6 miles of walking or 120 minutes of Free Step
Edited because I realized I didn't have a "4 mile" increment!

If anyone can make that goal, it's you. I saw your answer about the email, so I sent one. Check it, mama! ;-)
I was wondering . . .
which shoes do you use for walking? For so many years now, since staying home more with my kids, I went around the house either barefoot or in flip-flops. I know, I was literally the image of barefoot/flip-flopped and pregnant and in the kitchen constantly.
Over time, my feet started to dry out, crack, and bleed. Painful. I noticed the commercials for Skechers Shape-ups with those thick soles. I've been wearing them for a little over a year now, and even have some just for the house. My feet are so much better now. No other shoe has been better for walking/standing for me.
So, okay, after my little story, I just wanted to let you know about the awesome that is Skechers Shape-ups.
I'm mostly barefoot, too, except when it's cold like now and I live in socks & slippers. No flip flops, ever--I hate the part that sticks between my toes. As for walking shoes, they were on sale at Target, and they're certainly not the best. Eventually, I'm going to have to invest in better shoes--I'll keep the Skechers in mind!
Yeah, I even have a numb spot on my left sole, just between the arch and heel. It was time to take better care of my feet, and wearing decent shoes has really made a difference. I couldn't do the constant flip-flops anymore or the shoes I got at Wal-Mart for walking.
Do you have a Shoe Carnival near you? They had a buy one pair, get one half off, plus the shoes were on sale. You can order online, too, but it's nice to see them and try them on. Anyway, I got a pair and then a pair for DH. They do those sales every few weeks.
