Or hopefully, finding the groove. I've had a lot of trouble getting us into a school routine this month. I need a regular routine--without one, not much gets done. Part of this is because I'm approaching things differently. I'm basing a lot of what we do is from The Well Trained Mind. I realized over the weekend that I was using that as a textbook instead of a guideline. I don't have to do everything exactly as they say. So this week, I'm planning to find my groove.
Last week, my mom & stepdad stayed with us, which was nice, even though that also contributed to the lack of routine.
We also had a busy weekend. I went over to Canada for the burial of my grandparents' ashes--the bagpipes post.
Saturday, my stepbrother & sister-in-law had their annual fall party. There were easily a hundred people there, and he went all out for the kids. In addition to the pinata, one of his cousins brought her two horses and gave the kids rides, he rented a bounce house, and once it got dark enough, he projected a movie on a canvas hung on the side of the barn/shed. We didn't get home until 10 (didn't stay for the whole movie), and we were all dragging.
Sunday, we drove out to see my great aunt (she invited us to dinner after the funeral). It was nice to see her, but she is so typical Old Country (even though I think she was born in Canada). "Eat, eat! You eat like a bird." This to my stepdad, who was really polite.
I'll post about the co-op stuff tomorrow (it's not bad, but typically overwhelming).
