I talked to my mom a few minutes ago, and while her problem is not mastitis, neither is it inflammatory breast cancer. The docs that she spoke with feel that it is a long term side effect of the radiation treatment she recieved a few years ago. They'll follow up with a mammogram, but everything looks ok.
I really appreciate all the good wishes from everyone - it helped a lot.
